The Eastern Long Island Hospital (ELIH) Foundation has appointed Doreen A. Barr to its Board of Directors.
Born and raised on Long Island, Mrs. Barr has been a resident of the Town of Southold since 1990, during which time she also lived in Ohio, Florida, Connecticut and The Republic of Singapore. While spending summers on the North Fork with her parents, she came to understand the critical importance of having a professional, responsive, and top-tier healthcare system that communities could trust and depend on.
Doreen has taken part in a number of ELIH fundraisers and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and an unwavering commitment to ensuring the North Fork has the financial resources to meet ELIH missions and goals.
She holds a Bachelor of Science cum laude from Adelphi University and a MA in Education Administration from The Ohio State University. An award-winning retired teacher and coach, Mrs. Barr spent nearly two decades working as part of the faculty and administration in school districts in New York and Connecticut.
In addition to other responsibilities as part of the board, Mrs. Barr hopes to focus on extending ELIH’s educational outreach to schools in the community.
