The Anthony Bennardo Memorial Scholarship for High School Seniors

This scholarship fund provides local students, who are planning a career in medicine to become a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), with much-needed funds for higher education. Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital campus Medical Staff will award a scholarship in the name of Anthony Bennardo, MD to 1 high school senior that is planning to enter full-time courses of study in medicine. Scholarship will be open to high school seniors from Greenport High School, Shelter Island High School, Southold High School, and Mattituck High School.

The scholarship will be a total amount of $ 2,500 to be distributed over 4 years; $1,000 for the first year, with $500 for each of three additional school years of continued undergraduate enrollment (based on a consistent cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or greater, transcript required). Recipient will receive payment upon verification of registration and acceptance from an approved institution of study. Recipients of any full scholarship to include National Merit Scholarships, ROTC Scholarships, and appointments to any service academy are not eligible for The Anthony Bennardo Memorial Scholarship.

Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital High School Scholarship

Each year, SBELIH awards a scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 to high school seniors from the North Fork and Shelter Island pursuing an advanced degree. Scholarship recipients are chosen based upon the recipient’s service, spirit, motivation, achievements (not limited to academic) and demonstration as a good role model for younger students. Additionally, preference is given to those pursuing an advanced degree in a health related field.
