ELIH Foundation Welcomes Daniel Oakley To The Board Of Directors

GREENPORT, NY, August 21, 2025 – The Eastern Long Island Hospital (ELIH) Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Daniel Oakley to its Board of Directors. With more than 40 years of experience in financial services, Mr. Oakley brings a wealth of expertise in strategy, analytics, and leadership to the Foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds in support of Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital.

Mr. Oakley most recently served as Vice President of Decisioning & Analytics at Discover Financial Services, where he led enterprise-wide programs to modernize processes and streamline new analytic models. Prior to Discover, he helped establish a management consulting practice at Verisk Analytics and spent nearly two decades at Ernst & Young as Executive Director of Insurance Strategy & Analytics. His thought leadership also includes co-authoring two articles for the Harvard Business Review on how organizations can successfully harness analytics.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Oakley held senior finance and strategy positions at Zurich Financial Services in New York. He began his career at Bain & Company in Boston and London. Through these roles, he consistently delivered measurable results in revenue growth, loss-ratio improvement, cost efficiency, and large-scale organizational change, experience he now brings to advancing the Foundation’s mission.

“Joining and working with the ELIH Foundation Board is a great opportunity to support the hospital and the wonderful work it does for the North Fork of Long Island,” says Mr. Oakley. “I hope to lend my experience in finance and analytics to the Board's efforts in evaluating hospital investments and prioritizing how they are funded.”

In addition to his professional expertise, Mr. Oakley is deeply committed to community service. “I'm eager to expand the awareness and reach of the Foundation and increase the positive impact it has on the hospital and our community,” he added. Beyond his career accomplishments, Mr. Oakley is recognized for his dedication to strengthening healthcare through philanthropy, a passion that aligns seamlessly with the Foundation’s mission.

A graduate of Harvard College with a degree in engineering, Mr. Oakley went on to earn his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He and his wife, Eileen, reside in Cutchogue, where he is an active member of the North Fork Country Club.
