ELIH Foundation Welcomes New Chairman, Paul J. Romanelli

January 9, 2020

Greenport – The Eastern Long Island Hospital (ELIH) Foundation named Paul J. Romanelli, Chairman of The ELIH Foundation, as its next leader, effective January 1, 2020. Romanelli is the fourth Chairman in The ELIH Foundation’s 14-year history. As President of Suffolk Security Systems, Romanelli’s deep and relevant professional experience elevated him to the top, replacing Dr. Z Micah Kaplan, who will remain on the board.

With proven executive management skills, a demonstrated commitment to philanthropy and civic engagement, and experience as a dynamic leader across the North Fork and Shelter Island, Romanelli was selected by input from ELIH Foundation stakeholders, including nonprofit and community leaders, donors, and staff.

“Romanelli shares the ELIH Foundation’s commitment to building stronger communities up from the grassroots,” says Paul J. Connor, Chief Administrative Officer of Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. “Combined with our deep roots in this community, his varied experience and dynamic leadership will bring new energy, ideas, and a fresh perspective to our efforts to address today’s needs and tomorrow’s opportunities.”

Mr. Romanelli has been an active member of the North Fork community, as treasurer of the North Fork Chamber of Commerce, as a member of the Mattituck Chamber of Commerce, and as the former Director and Vice President of the Long Island Alarm Association. Paul is an active member of the ELIH Foundation’s Golf Classic Committee, and he has served as a Director on the Foundation Board for three years.

Mr. Romanelli, a graduate of Villanova University, enjoys travel and sailing. He resides in Cutchogue with his wife Theresa.
