GREENPORT, N.Y., October 19, 2019 – “Rocktoberfest” was the event and Emergency Department stretchers, was the cause! Saturday, October 19, a crowd of almost 100 guests gathered with fellow supporters to raise money for the Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) Emergency Department (ED). The ELIH Auxiliary matched donations dollar for dollar, bringing the night’s total to $11,000.

The Emergency Department is in need of new patient stretchers and the community came together selflessly and seamlessly contributing to this worthy cause. A hallmark of the North Fork community is mutual support and Saturday night was no exception with everyone getting into the act!

ED nurses and staff presented “Rocktoberfest” at the Townsend Manor Inn in Greenport, NY sponsored by Allstate - Chris Manfredi. SBELIH staff lent their musical talents to the evening as Dr. Larry Schiff, Dr. Ryan Zapata and Dr. David Lin of the P.O.C. band kept the beat going well into the evening as guests danced the night away. Every hospital department contributed baskets filled with a myriad of gifts to be raffled off, adding to the festive atmosphere on this perfect fall evening.

Michelle Smith, RN (SBELIH Emergency Department nurse) said, “Hospital stretchers are sophisticated and necessary pieces of medical equipment at a staggering cost of $11,000 each. It is fundraisers such as this that help raise dollars needed to purchase this essential equipment. We are so proud of our dedicated community for their unwavering support.”

ELIH Foundation would like to remind the community that every dollar raised here stays here to benefit our local hospital. The gift of good health is cherished by all and we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated.
