GREENPORT, NY, DECEMBER 13, 2023 – Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) is proud to announce current IT Team member William Haining has been promoted to IT Director, taking the reins from the recently retired Daniel Scotto.
With over 26 years in the field, Haining is qualified to lead the IT Department. Before his tenure at SBELIH, Haining worked at various school districts across Long Island as a network and system administrator.
“When the opportunity came up to work with Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, I jumped at the chance,” says Haining. “It has been extremely rewarding to be able to grow with the Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system. From the very first day, we started to upgrade the network, server, and computer workstation infrastructure. It is an honor and a privilege to be part of this organization and especially be part of the dedicated and caring staff at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital.”
Haining will be reporting to Dr. Gerald Kelly, Chief Information Officer at Stony Brook Medicine, and supported locally by William Messner, SVP of Finance at SBELIH. Messner remarked, “Bill has been here since 2019 and was a valuable asset during the pandemic. He has wide-ranging expertise that will help our IT Department grow.”
Looking ahead, Haining says, “Soon, we will be implementing a new VOIP phone system and moving toward a single Electronic Medical Record System that Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital will all be using. It is a pleasure to be able to work with a team that has the same goal in mind. The Stony Brook Medicine healthcare system values and cares for not only the community but also its entire staff as well.”
