Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) is proud to announce the 2020 recipients of its annual SBELIH High School Scholarship, sponsored by the hospital’s Medical Staff.

Each year, SBELIH awards a scholarship in the amount of $1,000.00 to high school seniors from the North Fork and Shelter Island pursuing a degree. This year’s recipients are Lauren Gurney, Shelter Island High School; Sarah Santacroce, Mattituck High School; Nicholas Vicinanza, Southold High School; Sophia Wachtel, Greenport High School.

Scholarship recipients are chosen based upon the recipient’s service, spirit, motivation, achievements (not limited to academic) and demonstration as a good role model for younger students. Additionally, preference is given to those pursuing an advanced degree in a health related field.

“With this scholarship, we honor Lauren, Sarah, Nicholas, and Sophia for their exemplary high school careers, and we are proud to support their future academic endeavors,” says Paul J. Connor III, Chief Administrative Officer, SBELIH. “Many thanks to our hospital’s Medical Staff for annually sponsoring this scholarship for deserving local students, and many congratulations to our 2020 recipients.”
