Greenport, NY, December 27, 2022 — Eastern Long Island Hospital (ELIH) Foundation announced the appointment of Samy Sabil to its Board of Directors.
Sabil brings his passion for community service and business experience to ELIH Foundation to help strengthen its mission and vision for Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. Sabil co-owns Creative Courses Catering and the North Fork Shack restaurant with business partner Ryan Flatley.
Samy Sabil was born in Morocco, and received a cancer diagnosis when he was 12 years old. While the prognosis initially wasn’t good, Sabil survived and thrived.
The multilingual Sabil moved to the United States and studied computer science at Georgia State University before relocating to Nashville and then New York. As a young man, Sabil traveled often, spoke several languages and fell in love with wine and food, eventually studying to become a sommelier.
Sabil moved to Long Island in his early 20s and quickly became a staple of the North Fork restaurant world, working as a sommelier for North Fork Table & Inn in Southold.
The successful restaurateur has volunteered in local soup kitchens and churches throughout the community and held successful fundraisers for a local cancer patient.
