Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital to Open Two Recovery Homes with Suffolk County Opioid Grant
Greenport, NY, May 2023 -- Stony Brook University Hospital and Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) have secured a $727,240 Suffolk County Opioid Settlement Grant that will allow SBELIH to move forward with its Quannacut Recovery Home Expansion program that will increase the availability of outpatient addiction treatment services on the East End of Long Island. Stony Brook Medicine was awarded the grant in the Opioid Settlement’s first phase, which saw over 100 submissions.
Quannacut Inpatient Services encompasses detoxification, rehabilitation and psychiatric care. Patients can then transfer to Quannacut Outpatient Services for further treatment. Quannacut Outpatient also provides recovery homes to aid in the transition from full-time treatment to sober living. This project will allow SBELIH to execute long-term lease agreements for new residential properties in Flanders, with a total of 24 new recovery home beds. The initiative includes spaces for individuals identifying as female, nonbinary or transgender.
“As SBELIH is the premier provider of integrated behavioral health services in Suffolk County, we are thrilled that we will soon be able to offer more services to people in recovery,” said Paul J. Connor, Chief Administrative Officer at SBELIH.
“Women and people in the LGBTQ community in recovery need and deserve ongoing care,” said Janet Jackowski, LCSW, CASAC, Vice President/Behavioral Health and Social Services at SBELIH. “This grant helps us ensure they continue their recovery in a safer and more inclusive way.”
Thanks to this grant, SBELIH will also enable SBELIH to hire a social worker and two house managers for the new Flanders homes, establish a transportation service for all four recovery homes in Flanders and Mattituck, and expand telehealth access for all recovery home residents.
