Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital Names Daniel Mathew New Vice President of Nursing

Daniel Mathew RN

Greenport, NY, February 08, 2023 – Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital (SBELIH) has named Daniel Mathew, RN, as its new Vice President of Nursing. He began his role on February 1 and will report to Chief Nursing Officer Suzie Marriott and Senior Vice President of Patient Care, MS, RN, PMH-BC (she/her).

A graduate of Stony Brook University, Mathew worked at Stony Brook University Hospital in several different departments, having started his nursing career in the medical ICU before moving to psychiatry. He has previously served as Assistant Nurse Manager and Assistant Director of Nursing.

Mathew was inspired to become a nurse after the exceptional care he received from nurses following a car accident when he was 28. “The compassion and care I got from the medical staff, especially the nursing staff, really opened my eyes and I wanted to treat patients and families that way,” he said.

“Mr. Mathew brings with him an exceptional combination of ICU and psychiatric experience,” said SBELIH Chief Administrative Officer Paul J. Connor. “We’re thrilled to have found such a great fit for our hospital and look forward to working with him on enhancing all our programs here at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital.”

Mathew is excited to get to know the staff and community at SBELIH. “There’s a family feeling to this hospital,” said Mathew. “I want to grow with the hospital and do whatever it takes to help achieve that.”
